April 15th, 12 noon Chipotle at 17th St & Broadway (864 Broadway)   Community/Farmworker Alliance is launching the NYC campaign against Chipotle at this rally. CHIPTOLE- Let's make this the first and last rally in NYC. Sign the Fair Food Agreement with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers today! For six years, Chipotle has refused to come to the table with farmworkers to sign a Fair Food Agreement, securing labor protections for workers in the fields of Florida. A farmworker led organization, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, has secured agreements with 10 major corporations- from McDonalds to Whole Foods. Chipotle has built it’s 1163 stores and $2.27 billion revenue on it’s image of serving “Food with Integrity.” They claim to focus on ensuring the products they use “are grown, made and shipped without exploiting people.” Yet, they refuse to sign with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. Members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers will be in NYC to help us kick off the campaign against Chipotle in NYC --------------------------------------------------------- La Alianza Comunitaria con los trabajadores agrícolas basada en Nueva York inicia la campaña en NY en contra de CHIPOTLE- Queremos que esta sea la primera y última manifestación que hacemos y que CHIPOTLE firme el acuerdo de Comida Justa con la coalición de los trabajadores de Imokalee AHORA! Ya han pasado ya 6 años y Chipotle se niega a negociar con los trabajadores agrícolas y firmar el acuerdo de Comida Justa, que logra protecciones para los trabajadores en los campos de Florida. La Coalición de los trabajadores de Imokalee es una organización dirigida por trabajadores de la agricultura que ha logrado acuerdos con corporaciones como McDonalds y Whole Foods. Chipotle tiene 1163 restaurantes y ganancias de 2.27 billones y vende la imagen falsa de que sirven "Alimentos con Integridad". Dicen que se aseguran de que los productos que usan son :"sembrados, preparados y transportados, sin explotar a la gente". Sin embargo se NIEGAN a firmar los acuerdos con la Coalición de Trabajadores de Immokalee. Decimos !BASTA DE CHIPOCRESIA! www.ciw-online.org. Valentine's Day Weekend We're BREAKING UP with Trader Joe's Rally and Break-Up Letter Drop Off Sunday, February 12 at 2pm Union Square Trader Joe's (138 East 14th Street) The love affair with Trader Joe's is over! We're tired of the lies and false promises! Trader Joe's claims to be wholesome, hip and sustainable, but it’s all just an image. After nearly two years of a nation-wide campaign, Trader Joe's still refuses to sign an agreement with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a group of farm workers in Florida who have successfully pressured corporate giants like Whole Foods and McDonald’s to agree to ensure that farm workers in their supply chains get treated humanely and get paid at least one penny more per pound of tomatoes they pick. And now, to top it off, Trader Joe's is opening it's first Florida store, only 30 miles away from Immokalee on Immokalee Road. The CIW is planning a huge action during the “Grand Opening” weekend of the new store and we’ll be having a solidarity action here in New York to let Trader Joe’s know that enough is enough! The Community/Farmworker Alliance, NYC—one of many collectives nationally that organizes in solidarity with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers- invites you to join us and Trader Joe's customers on Sunday, February 12th at 2:00pm in front of the Union Square Trader Joe's. Nos cansamos de tantas mentiras y promesas falsas. Se acabó! Trader Joes se presenta como muy completo, muy chido - bacán y sostenible, pero solo es una imagen. Después de casi dos años de una campaña nacional, Trader Joe's todavia se resiste a firmar un acuerdo con la Coalición de trabajadores de Immokalee, un grupo de trabajadores agrícolas que exitosamente han presionado a corporaciones gigantes como Whole Foods y McDonalds para que participen de los acuerdos que garantizan que los trabajadores agrícolas que proveen sus cadenas de proveedores, sean tratados humanamente y que por lo menos se les pague un centavo más por libra del tomate que piscan/cosechan.
